When you measure your room or office area, note the dimensions on grid paper. Indicate the locations and sizes of doors, windows, heat/air vents, light switches, phone jacks, internet connections, thermostats, and any other things that will affect the placement of furniture. If you have a home based business or even work from home on occasion, you may want to take noise and distractions into consideration. Street noise and other outside disturbances can be distracting when talking on the phone. This should be a consideration as you plan your home office, particularly when deciding on the location of your furniture. For example, it may be quieter in the back as opposed to near a busy street. All in all, your personal preferences are most important when planning for your home office. Choose what makes you feel comfortable and enjoy the time you spend there.
